Old Zhou returned home in high spirits and saw that Zhou ErLang and the others were still sorting out the things they had bought. He watched them with great enthusiasm for a while, then asked Zhou ErLang, "Did all the money for this come from Manbao?"
Zhou ErLang nodded.
Old Zhou was overjoyed, feeling a sense of satisfaction at having spent a portion of his daughter's money. He grinned so widely his eyes were nearly squinted shut and was about to head into the kitchen.
"Dad—" Manbao came running out of the house, her eyes sparkling brightly as she looked at him, "I bought you a gift."
Old Zhou's eyes lit up, "What gift?"
"Wait till after dinner, then I'll tell you."
Old Zhou, although itching with curiosity, agreed, but couldn't help probing, "You've got to give me a hint at least, what kind of thing is it?"
"It's related to food."
Could it be the big chunk of meat now lying in the kitchen?
