Amelia Clarke grinned politely and said, "Please do me a favor and relay a message to Mr. Taylor. Just tell him that I've brought him a business opportunity where he's guaranteed a profit without any losses. He'll want to meet with me."
The servant hesitated before responding, "Then I'll go and have a word."
About ten minutes later, the servant came back and said to her, "Follow me."
The servant led her to an outdoor swimming pool and pointed to a wicker chair, saying, "Please have a seat here. Our sir will be over shortly."
The wait lasted till after nine o'clock in the evening.
Amelia Clarke's initial anxiety gradually subsided and eventually became somewhat numb.
Finally, at ten o'clock, Linn Taylor arrived, reeking of cigarettes and alcohol.
Amelia Clarke stood up, her smile faint, and called out respectfully and assertively, "Mr. Taylor."
Though Linn Taylor was smiling amiably, his demeanor clearly didn't bear good intentions.
