Serene Abel and Owen Moreland were seated by the window, chatting about something. Serene had a smile that reached her eyes, looking joyful, while Owen's expression was unchanging, but his gaze was nothing short of gentle.
Amelia Clarke bit her lip, feeling suffocated with each breath.
Owen seemed to sense something and suddenly looked up, his gaze calm and profound.
Their eyes met.
A shiver ran through Amelia, leaving her mind blank. She hastily averted her gaze, pretending to continue with her task indifferently, but she didn't even know what she was doing anymore.
"Amelia! Amelia!" Olivia Kingsley called out while pulling on Amelia's arm, pointing to Owen and Serene's table, "Could you help me deliver this coffee over there? I suddenly have a stomachache..."
As Amelia followed her gesture toward Owen's table, she found Owen still looking in her direction. Her heart raced and fluttered once more when she again met his profound eyes.
