Amelia Clarke felt as if all her blood had rushed to her head and said sharply, "Why didn't you call us at the time? So much time has passed, what if something had happened to him, how would you take responsibility?"
The teacher on the other end was nearly in tears, "I thought he was just being naughty and ran out to play, that he could be found quickly..."
These words sounded like shirking responsibility, and not very cleverly at that.
Amelia's eyes reddened, "Don't you know what Mason is like? He's so well-behaved, how could he possibly sneak out to play? You—"
She didn't finish her sentence.
"Sister!" Mason Carter's voice suddenly rang out.
Amelia was startled and turned around to see Mason running out from the adjacent private room like a puppy breaking free, happily charging towards her.
