Amelia Clarke smiled without comment and instead asked another question, "Are you going alone?"
Owen Moreland replied, "No, my dad will come too. How can we propose marriage without the presence of the man's father?"
Such an act gave ample respect to the woman's side. Given the status of The Morelands, there was absolutely no need to condescend to personally go to T City for a marriage proposal; even sending someone causal could have sufficed. No one would criticize The Morelands, only look down on the woman's family. Amelia's future status in The Moreland family was bound to be questioned by others.
Now, at least, it would silence those who were waiting to make a joke of Amelia.
After Owen finished speaking, tears suddenly swelled in Amelia's eyes, and her nose felt sore. She grasped his large hand with her own.
She said, "Thank you."
Beyond those three words, she didn't know what else to say.
He was so considerate and protective of her. She felt grateful and moved.
