Upon arriving at the hospital ward, Viola Harris lay in bed, staring out the window, lost in thought.
Two nurses sat on the sofa, cracking sunflower seeds and chatting.
Amelia Clarke pushed the door open, "Viola."
As Viola Harris turned her head, Amelia Clarke saw a fleeting look of desolation and sadness in her eyes that had not been fully concealed—a pair of beautiful eyes that were always lively seemed dimmer now, with a hint of tears brimming beneath them.
Amelia paused, "Viola?"
Viola Harris lifted her lips in a smile, her eyes sparkling as brightly as before.
"You're here." Seeing the items in Amelia Clarke's hands, she smiled, "What good stuff did you bring?"
Amelia set the fruit and books on the cabinet, "Afraid you'd be bored, I bought you some books and fruits. Do you want to eat any now?"
Viola Harris shook her head, "Not hungry, maybe later."
Amelia sat down in the chair beside the sickbed.
A moment of silence.
