Owen Moreland was focused on the road ahead when he heard Amelia Clarke's words. He freed one hand to grasp hers and brought it to his lips for a kiss.
A deep and magnetic voice arose near Amelia's ear.
"You don't need to explain anything to me, Amelia. You have to trust I'm capable of judging the right and wrong of a situation. And besides, I believe in my girl."
Amelia was taken aback.
Just then, at a crossroads, the red light came on.
Owen stopped the car.
Abruptly, Amelia threw herself into the driver's seat, wrapping her arms around Owen's neck.
Without a word, for the first time, she initiated a kiss on his lips.
Some things don't need to be said. A single intimate gesture was enough to convey everything.
One kiss was sufficient to express all the emotions stirring in Amelia's heart at that moment: gratitude and contentment.
Thank you for granting me the right not to explain.
Thank you for trusting me unconditionally.
Thank you for letting me be your girl.
