Amelia Clarke stood in the yard, listening to the distant roar of a car driving away, a smile rippling across her lips.
Above her, clouds suddenly parted to reveal the moon, casting a pale silver light over the yard.
Olivia Wilson's bedroom suddenly erupted with violent coughing, as if all her internal organs were trying to cough themselves out.
Amelia's heart tightened, and she hurried over.
As she pushed open the bedroom door, she startled Olivia, who quickly hid something away.
Seeing it was Amelia, Olivia's eyes flashed with panic, and her smile became somewhat stiff, "Amelia, you're back."
Amelia saw it, but pretended not to.
"Mom, your cough is so severe, how about I stay a couple more days before leaving, and take you to another hospital for a check-up?"
Olivia laughed, "Why get a check-up? I'm fine. I know my own body, really."
"But in a few days, Mason will also be going to school, and I'm not at ease leaving you home alone."
