Chapter 9 - 9. Flashbacks (2)

'She seems to know what it means to be in charge of weapons-related documents, but i think she didn't notice that this is the beginning of the episode that will strangle her.'

Lizzy, who is very aware of Edith's situation, pretends not to notice but glances at Edith's work. I've been thinking about this since earlier, i noticed that Edith was good at work. She didn't feel panic when she was suddenly entrusted with an important document and quickly sorted it into features just by looking through it once glance.

'What kind of job did she do in her past life?'

Lizzy tried her best to hide her discomfort feeling because of Edith, who seemed more capable than her. But then Edith's actions caught Lizzy's attention. Edith was organizing all the information in the document by drawing tables that can't be found in other documents.

'Oh? Great, that's it!'

At that moment, Lizzy came with an idea of how to leak those documents and make Edith the culprit.

'Because in the original story, I've never mentioned using a table to organize those documents. . . . !' Realizing that, Lizzy hastily added a setting on this world that said 'There's no tables are used in formatting'. Since no one knows about the concept of the 'table'. Edith would immediately be accused of being the culprit if all the documents she had been neatly arranged using 'table' were found at Riegelhoff family side.

However, Edith, who was unaware of Lizzy's malicious intentions, completely ignored Lizzy's words that she was 'not used to doing like that', not only that she even asked the Duchess for an opinion about her abilities, because of that Lizzy's mood was spoiled.

'She seems so excited and achieved something just by doing something simple? but it doesn't mean it will stop me.'

Even though Lizzy smiled so innocently in front of Edith, there was a sharp knife inside.

'Sooner or later, the Riegelhoff family will send a letter to Edith telling her to steal the documents, right?'

At that time, Lizzy took out the documents that Edith had neatly arranged. She made copies of them, forged her handwriting, and sent them to the Riegelhoff family. It was so easy, so simple. In the original, Edith was immediately driven to be the culprit in this incident.

'Now what she gonna do? When something she didn't do like in the original, it still happened the same as the original flow of the story.'

Lizzy was so excited, waiting Edith's reaction to this fuss. However, Edith was so calm and quiet for some reason. Then Cliff and Killian began to investigate Lizzy's radius of action and alibi. This situation has never happened before.

'What? Why are Cliff and Killian investigating me? You should interrogate Edith instead of me!' Although she was frustrated, Lizzy pretended to know nothing until the end.

After waiting a few days. As like the flow of the original story, the document that Lizzy sent to the Riegelhoff family was discovered by Duke Ludwig. Of course, it will be 'proof that Edith is the culprit.'

'She can't even protest anymore, right? How crazy would it be?'

This episode is the first obstacle that all Edith has faced before. Lizzy was on her way going to Duke Ludwig office when the duke called her there, expecting that this Edith would fall greatly too. When she arrived and entered the office, the atmosphere in the office was so tense, like what she expected. She was called there to make a 'testimony', and she acted as if she was so surprised and examined Edith expressions.

'She still so calm, huh?' But I'm sure she was about to collapse. Then Lizzy answered the Duke's questions and steadily drove Edith like a culprit. But rather than being feared, Edith looked like she was mocking her. I glanced at her again before stepping back from the office for the last time, wondering if i saw it wrong, but Edith was still raising her arrogant chin.

'What the hell she is thinking about? Isn't it scary to sit in front of the duke as a sinner?' Lizzy was so curious about it that she waited for her in front of Edith's room. She thought that when Edith went back to her room with her knight and her maid, she was going to pretend to express her concern and share her thoughts. But it wasn't the knight or the maid who sent Edith back.

"Lizzy. . . . ?"

"Oh! Killian. . . . Edith. . . . !"

Lizzy was so surprised that she almost made a strange expression again. However, Lizzy quickly put on her worried face and looked at them. Edith looked more desperate than before, but she was so calm for a person who almost got kicked out from this house. It wasn't just Edith who was weird here.

"Lizzy. Let's not talk about this anymore."

"Killian?"

"Don't dig up what's done. Forget it. Okay?"

Killian wasn't excited at all after hearing about what could drive Edith away. Rather, he asked her to forget about it. Edith hadn't met the first level of exception conditions yet, but Killian's feelings toward Edith had already changed.

'How did this happen? Isn't it when the character has changed it will threaten the flow of the original story? Edith Riegelhoff! What have you done?'

For the first time, Lizzy felt a shiver run down her spine.

* * *

'Right now, just depending on the exception conditions no longer a safe choice, even the flow of the original story is also insufficient. I need to work harder on Killian.'

While Lizzy was thinking like that, a news comes Edith has collapsed. When the servant told Killian about it, he ran immediately, picked her up, and carried her away towards her room. Lizzy, who rushed to Edith's room, met Killian coming out of the room with complicated expressions on his face. Lizzy held his hand. She was able to identify Killian's 'contamination level' from the hand she was holding.

'It's so different from the original Killian at this point!'

He was now feeling guilty about Edith, who had collapsed. Killian Ludwig felt guilty about Edith Riegelhoff. K never written anything like this. Because of that, Killian was suffering from severe headaches due to the effects of the separation from the flow of the original story.

"Killian. It's not your fault."

Lizzy comforted Killian and gave him strength as the original author. It was a way to reduce his headache while reinforcing his character's setting and make him unconsciously lean on her. However, Killian's repulsive power was unexpectedly so strong.

"It's seems like Edith is soft-hearted than she looks. She was so anxious that she collapsed. . . ."

"She may have been very hurt because there's not one believe her since she is innocent."

It seems like he still hates Edith, but for some reason, Killian was defending Edith.

'He never been like this. . . .' There was a cool anxiety come inside me. And the anxiety i felt revealed itself within a few days.

[ Level 1 exception condition has been met. An exception has occurred, and the original author's authority has been reduced. The first level of exception conditions will disappear.]

Lizzy, who had been sleeping for a while, was startled when she heard the guide voice in her dream. 'Yes? Already?' There's many previous Ediths who successfully met the first exception conditions that have been set, but it never happened in this situation.

'Which part of the original did she follow?'

In response to Lizzy's question, the world system shows the image of the part that Edith followed, like the flow of the original in her dream. This was the part where Edith was anxious by the document leak incident, entered Killian's bedroom in the middle of the night, and seduced him.

'She follows this part?'

Lizzy hurriedly checked what happened last night. The system was opened in front of her. It's being revised in real time, so the last part of the book was blank. Lizzy quickly turned the pages and looked for the they scenes last night. However, I had no choice but to close the book before I read half of the revised content that Edith had followed. It's was because of the 19+ content that she had never written was unfolding.

'This is unbelievable . . . . It's ridiculous!'

Killian and Edith have a physical relationship that is unimaginable. Killian, who had been Lizzy's sub-male, had completely given up on Lizzy and accepted Edith. Even if the first exception conditions were met, such a huge event had never happened before.

'How the hell. . . .!'

It was an absurd thing, but I had no idea where to start correcting it.

* * *

For a while, Lizzy observed Edith and tried hard to strengthen her relationship with her. Fortunately, Edith didn't hate Lizzy despite her estrangement from the Sinclairs. Instead, Edith sometimes acted like Lizzy protector. The same thing happened when I met Countess Bryn, who looked at Lizzy like a thorn in her eye, at the bazaar Countess Hermenia held. In front of Lizzy Countess Bryn was mocking Lizzy in a cold and sharp voice. But then, Edith stepped forward, hiding Lizzy behind her.

"It's seem that they still can't fit into social life these days.

The people from the countryside wandered around the

bazaar."

Even Lizzy was surprised by that gutsiness. Edith, who had been dealing with Countess Bryn's group for a while, glared at them as they walked away when Cliff's appearance. He whispered to Lizzy.

"Are you alright?"

There was a sincere concern in her eyes.

'I can't figure it out why.'

Since she knows the original story, it's understandable if she wants to show her best self to the main character. But still I can't figure out why Edith saved Lizzy without any doubt. For K who couldn't stand a person who was better than herself, Edith was the kind of person that she couldn't understand at all.

However, if Edith is a clueless and naive person there's no solution to it. Edith was always pround herself, arrogant with her chin remaining up and she never showed any signs of trying to please Killian no even once.

I don't know which part of Edith caused the change in Killian, but even at the bazaar, Killian showed a different attitude from his original setting. Lizzy greeted him first, but he gaze was looked directly at Edith in the corner.

"How have you been?"

"Is there anything special? It's just. . . .I felt a little bored."

"Why? Because I'm not here?"

"Ha! Really. . . . Isn't it overly self-conscious?"

Although Edith and Killian were not aware of it, a subtle affection was already flowing between them. They glanced at each other for a moment and then looked away, but a subtle smile spread across their lips, they peeked at each other while pretending to look somewhere else, and coughing in vain to cover the bright smile that lifted in their mouth. . . . .

If Edith doesn't fully meet all of the 3-stage expectation conditions that have been set, the flow of the original will still retain its power. However no one will know what the ending would it be if the narrative between the two is completed solidly.
