"Dr. Campbell, the patient in bed 20 just had a heart attack. Please go check on them immediately."
"Okay."
As Adam Jones was staring at Elly Campbell somewhat absentmindedly, a sudden, urgent voice broke through his thoughts, pulling him back to reality.
Elly Campbell had already put away the patient file she had in front of her and was running toward the room of the patient mentioned by the intern.
He stood there, motionless, and after ten minutes, he saw Elly Campbell emerge from the patient's room, letting out a long sigh of relief, her forehead dotted with sweat.
Just watching her like this made his heart inexplicably ache.
Holding the patient file, Elly Campbell stepped out of the room and glanced at her watch. It was almost time to finish her shift.
Out of habit, she would perform one final round in her patient's room each day before leaving the hospital.
