Before Elly Campbell could refuse, he buried his chin in the hollow of her shoulder and muttered, "Just take it as a psychological comfort to me, I promise I won't touch you."
"No way!"
Without a second thought, Elly rejected the idea outright.
She had already made her biggest compromise by agreeing to remarry, and last night's incident... it was just a moment carried away by passion, an accident. The idea of agreeing to share a bed with Adam Jones, even if nothing happened between them, still felt awkward to her.
Adam Jones wasn't surprised by Elly's refusal; he hadn't expected her to actually agree to sleep with him. He had just wanted to find an excuse to stick around her for a bit longer.
"Then I'll take a step back. You take the master bedroom, and I'll sleep on the couch."
Adam Jones being so agreeable was rather unexpected for Elly.
Why wasn't he being pushy?
