Chapter 22 - Cafeteria (3)

The tray was covered by some plastic sheets, and seeing Raven tear it, I copied him.

"Ah!" like a bang, the aroma spread out, leaving me drooling. 'I am in heaven' the fresh stream, the juice-looking meat, and the white, beautiful rice. Despite my desire to consume it instantly, I controlled myself because I didn't know how to eat!

'Damn you, my memory!' I cursed myself. Not wanting to be embarrassed near these two, I didn't make any attempt to eat, waiting for Raven to eat. 'Come on, hurry up.'

Raven picked up the spoon and mixed it with things like rice, meat, and some other stuff. Adam followed Raven and did the same; however, this act didn't go unnoticed by Noir's sharp eyes.

Feeling confused, Noir could not help but ask Adam with hesitation, "Ahh, Adam, are you copying Raven?"

Adam replied hurriedly, "I am not!" Feeling embarrassed, Adam's ear turned red.

"Haha! Come on, Noir, do you believe he is copying me to eat?" Raven said as he spook his spoon in his mouth.

"You are right, sorry Adam," Noir apologized as he lowered his head.

"It's okay," I said, feeling a bit guilty. 'Phew, I am saved, and thanks, Raven.'

I picked up the spoon, and seeing Raven eat was like a spark in my mind. I remember how I used to eat with a spoon.

As soon as I took a single bite, I found myself in paradise. 'Holy shit! It's delicious.' The rice and meat melted in my mouth. Suddenly, my desire took control over me as I ate like a beast, forgetting my manners. 'This is love!'

"Ah! Adam..." Raven called me out to point out my manners.

"Mm, Rave—chew—what happened? Oh, 'gulp' about that..." I mumbled with a mouthful, the words weaving through a symphony of chewing and swallowing.

"First eat! And then talk," Raven said as he got annoyed.

I gulped. "Okay!" I continued my feast as Raven sighed.

I noticed that both Raven and Noir seemed to be having short conversations about their day. At first, I wanted to listen to their conversation, but my empty stomach and confusion gave me headaches.

Soon, I reached a threshold; the emptiness in my stomach finally ended as my senses gradually returned. I stopped my mannerless feast.

'Blurp.' Feeling embarrassed, I apologized, "I apologize for my manners. I was too hungry, and the food was too delicious; I couldn't control myself."

"It's okay," Raven said. "So now, will you tell me what you were supposed to say while eating?"

"Ah! Didn't Noir tell you already?" I replied, assuming that he had already talked about it.

"Oh, I didn't. You said you would," Noir replied instantly.

"Oh, I see. Ahem, listen, Raven..." Adam explained everything, even sharing about the bus event; however, I didn't say anything about my condition or outsiders.

"What? I am so sorry, Adam. That jerk did this. We just need to make sure you don't meet him," Noir said with rage and pity as he comforted me.

'Sigh.' "It's okay; I am fine; don't worry," I said to Noir. I couldn't help but give him a warm smile due to his supportive nature. 'Don't worry. Once I become strong, I will kick his butt.'

I looked up at Raven after a few seconds of silence. I said, "Listen, Raven, we may be bullied in the future, and we are weak. I don't want you to get into our trouble."

Raven sighed. "Seriously, first, you owe me 5 credits, and he can survive it on his own, but you fainted by just running, so you are so weak you won't survive the second round." He paused as he took a deep breath, and with a smile, he said, "You both are my friends, so I can't leave you guys alone."

Both Noir and Adam couldn't help but feel touched.

"Haha, isn't it like those weird hero stories where the hero and his friend become companions?" Noir said with a laugh.

"Hey, this isn't a weird story but a peak story, and now that you mention it, who will be the hero? Hmm, right, it should be me!" Raven said it excitedly.

"No, it's me; you are the side characters. I am the hero!" Noir fought.

'Weird story? Hero?' feeling annoyed due to their childish argument.

"Enough, are you guys children? Act like grown-ups." I shouted, shutting them up.

"But I wanted to be a hero," Raven muttered.

"Ha!" I sighed. "Everyone can become a hero; they are ordinary people; it's the path that makes them one."

"Path?" Noir asked.

"The hero's path is paved with sacrifices and choices. Yet, beware. Not everyone emerges as a hero in the end," I answered him. I found myself surprised. 'Wow! I know a lot about heroes. Damn my memory. I didn't remember how to eat, but I knew about heroes. Something is suspicious.'

Both of them, Noir and Raven, were shocked. Raven slapped the table with excitement as he looked at me with eyes filled with stars and said, "Hey Noir! We found who will be the hero, right?"

"Yes! We did," Noir agreed as he nodded.

"Ah! Guys, can you cut it off? I am not a fan of hero stuff," I said. 'Who wants to be a hero? I am a selfish guy and not a selfless guy,' I said to myself internally.

"Lame!" Raven said it with a humph.

"Haha," I said, giving an awkward laugh as I started to enjoy my day with them. 'Finally, a happy moment.'

A loud, similar noise emerged. "There you are, you little crow! Oh, you even got new toys for us."

I turned around, feeling shocked. Both I and Noir said with dread, "Jack!"

'Little crow?' I turned toward Raven, and I saw his pale face, which was similar to the first time I met him when he got a message on his wristwatch.

"And I also get bullied," Raven said in a very low voice.

"See, Boss! That's the sink boy and the inferior beast boy," one of his sidekicks said with excitement.

"Ah yes! It's my lucky day. Haha," said Jack with a creepy grin.

'Oh, shit. We are screwed.' I cursed, as I could feel what was coming up next.

As they approached us, I whispered to both of them, "Raven, Noir, run!"
