Chapter 2 - Surprise is a ten thousand reward

The surprise was this: inside the mythical treasure chest, there was only a worn-out oil lamp.

The lamp's surface was chipped and it looked shabby, seemingly of no use.

Jun picked up the oil lamp.

[Ding! The ten thousand times reward system is successfully bound! ]

[10,000-fold reward system: Any reward you receive will result in a 10,000-fold gain! ]

A ten-thousandfold boost?

Jun suddenly remembered that he hadn't opened his beginner's gift yet.

[Ding! Congratulations on opening the newbie gift package! ]

[Ding! Get an ordinary spear and an ordinary backpack! ]

[Ding! The ten thousand times reward system has been detected, and the optional rewards are as follows:]

[1. Ten thousand spears, ten thousand ordinary backpacks]

[2. A bright silver technology gun, and a space backpack]

Jun was a bit bewildered. What did this mean, a Ten Thousandfold Reward System giving him two choices?

The first option was straightforward, but it seemed a bit excessive to receive ten thousand spears.

The second option was more comfortable, skipping quantity and going straight for quality, changing the spear into a shiny silver-tech gun, which was more reasonable.

Anyone would choose the second option, of course.

The properties of the space backpack were also quite good, with storage space ten thousand times that of a common backpack.

It was literally one for ten thousand!

[Didi didi! ]

At this moment, Jun heard a notification from the system.

[After 24 hours, the first wave of monster attacks will usher in. The current attacking monster is Slime. ]

Slime, considered a monster?

Jun didn't pay much attention to it.

Instead, he decided to check the properties of the Shiny Silver-Tech Gun.

[Bright Silver Technology Gun: An upgraded version of the Bright Silver Gun, a gold-level equipment with an attack power of 999. It can be used for melee or long-range attacks. Long-range attacks require sniper rifle bullets. It comes with a 2x mirror effect and has an effective range of 1,000 meters. ]

[Red dot sight, 2x scope, 3x scope, 4x scope, 6x scope, 8x scope, 12x scope can be installed. ]

[Sniper rifle bullets and various accessories can be found in treasure boxes or exploded from monsters. ]

Upon a quick inspection, this Shiny Silver-Tech Gun was undeniably impressive. Under normal circumstances, it resembled an ancient long spear.

If Jun remembered correctly, the Shiny Silver Gun was the weapon of Zhao.

However, with the addition of "tech," it became extraordinary. It had a button on its barrel, allowing it to transform into the appearance of a sniper rifle.

In its transformed state, it was pristine white, shimmering with silver light, and quite stylish.

The space backpack was seamlessly integrated into Jun's body. With a mere thought, the Shiny Silver-Tech Gun and the Fishbone Gun were stored inside it.

When needed, they could be summoned instantly to his hand, making it incredibly convenient.

Interesting!

"There should be a game panel, right?"

Jun explored his thoughts and found a small icon in the lower right corner of his mind, designed in a sandblasted Win10 style.

[Communication], [Mall], and [Forging] were the three major sections.

Jun was keen to explore the Communication function first to see what features it had.

Clicking inside, he naturally found three communication interfaces: [World Communication], [Regional Communication] and [Private Communication].

As soon as he opened the World Communication channel, Jun was bombarded by a torrent of messages that nearly overwhelmed him.

Many people were complaining.

"Damn it, let me out! I don't want this deserted island. Hurry up and get me back!"

"Is there a big bro here? I'm really scared. I have nothing on me right now. Who can help me?"

"Is it really true that I have nothing on me, not even clothes? Haha!"

"Oh my God, is this a dream?"

"Why is this happening? I'm so thirsty!"

"I got an Iron Chest, hehe!"

"A spear and a small backpack, how am I supposed to survive?"

Most people received only a spear and a small backpack, which didn't make much difference.

Jun continued reading and noticed that he was the only one who received multiple treasure chests. They had only one beginner's package, but beyond that, he managed to find a Mythic-level treasure chest.

This seemed quite exaggerated. It was likely related to Jun's ability to see the game's progress script.

These Mythic and Diamond-level treasure chests are incredibly secretive. If Jun didn't have clear coordinates for them, it would be impossible to find them.

The most important thing is that Jun's Mythic-level treasure chest doesn't provide one-time benefits. It allows him to receive rewards with a thousand-fold gain every time in the future. This is what makes it truly terrifying.

Remaining calm, as an expert, Jun knew he needed to maintain an air of mystery. Therefore, he refrained from posting on the world channel.

The regional channel allowed free communication within a radius of thirty kilometers.

Private messaging was one-on-one communication and had specific requirements. You needed to have engaged in trade information or added someone as a friend in person to initiate private messaging.

This meant that Jun had to temporarily abandon the idea of finding his girlfriend.

The in-game store system attracted Jun's attention. He opened the system and found it was a platform for official sales, with features for free trading and auctions.

It also introduced a currency called "Island Coins" that could be used to purchase items.

[Island Coins: Universal currency, can drop from monsters or be obtained by the system through recycling items.]

The recycling system caught Jun's eye. He remembered the misleading advertisements in low-quality mobile games, claiming that they could convert equipment into valuable items.

The last page was the crafting interface. It had 16 slots where you could place various items to craft different things. However, there were no explanations or hints.

Jun thought this might be similar to a crafting table in a game like "Minecraft." You'd need the right materials and blueprints to craft items.

Exiting the system interface, Jun went to the base of the lone coconut tree. He thrust a spear into it, felling the tree.

[Received Wood x4.]

He placed one piece of wood into the crafting interface and clicked to craft.

[Obtained Wooden Sticks x3.]

As expected, it was quite similar to what Jun had imagined.

Arranging these wooden sticks in a shovel pattern on the crafting page, he clicked to craft.

[Ding, crafting successful. Congratulations, you've obtained a Wooden Hammer x1.]

Wait a minute, wasn't it supposed to be a wooden shovel? Why a hammer? What's he going to use that for?
