Ares slumped onto the first step of the stairs, his chest heaving with exhaustion, his eyes cast downward in defeat.
The Mazitzis stared at him in horror, their faces pale and aghast. Atlan, however, was glaring at the goddess murderously.
Morana's eyes swept the carnage before her, her expression serene, almost detached. "What is going on here?"
Her eyes trailed upward, locking onto Leocade's horror-stricken face. Her smile vanished, and a low, menacing growl rumbled from her throat. "What did you do?!"
"Liar!" Ares' eyes narrowed into slits as he glared at his mother.
"Where is this coming from?" Morana's eyes widened in alarm as she gasped, her hand flying to her chest.
Ares waved his hand, and the door behind his mother vanished, leaving her trapped.
She frowned. "You think you're going to trap me here?"
