As the carriage arrived at the castle at dawn, Ares stared adoringly at Eleanor, who slumbered peacefully with her head on his shoulder. She had fallen asleep the moment the carriage began moving, and before doing so, had nestled her head into the crook of his neck.
His eyes gleamed as he smiled like a besotted lover, drifting repeatedly to her serene face.
Kaito, seated beside him, watched with growing unease, his expression a mix of confusion and concern. "You know, you're really starting to scare me with those smiles."
Ares's smile vanished instantly, replaced by a scowl as he turned to Kaito, his eyes narrowed into slits. "What do you mean? You always say my smiles are cute."
"That was when you were only 9 feet tall," Kaito teased, opening the curtain to look out at the castle's compound. "Now, not so much."
