Breaking away from her lips once again, his eyes locked on her dazed eyes with a heavy breath. She smiled, but her expression faltered, startled by Iris's persistent knocking and calling.
"Ares! Open up!"
"Should I go?" Ares asked, his voice low, his body motionless, unwilling to leave.
Eleanor parted her lips to respond, but Iris's knocking grew louder, her voice more insistent. "Ares, are you in there?" she demanded, her anger rising.
Ares sighed, his frustration clear, and buried his face in the crook of Eleanor's neck. "Stay quiet, she'll leave," he whispered.
"Ares! I know you're in there! The fox demon told me you're in there!" Iris yelled, her voice echoing outside the door.
Eleanor felt a giggle rise up, but she stifled it, covering her mouth with her hand. "I don't think she'll leave," she whispered, her eyes sparkling with amusement.
