"I don't understand." Eleanor's eyes narrowed. "You two are aware that your unborn child was used as a sacrifice to let a god enter the mortal realm?"
She snatched the glass of wine from Kaito's hand. Her eyes settled on Shelia and Adonis, now seated across from her.
"Yes." Adonis poured wine for himself and his wife, his movements careful and elegant.
Shelia's gaze darted to her husband before she spoke in a hushed tone, "Not immediately."
Adonis's expression turned grim, and Shelia continued, "We initially thought it was Ares' doing, but..."
Eleanor's glare became harsh. "But what?"
She was already deeply worried about her husband, and the thought that others believed he was capable of something so horrific and unnecessary was infuriating.
