On the morning of the fourth day, Bate again sent people out to search for food. This time, he dared not let so many people go, dispatching only two thousand, "Be very careful, and make sure you don't walk into an ambush. Whether you find food or not, ensure everyone returns safely."
Watching these two thousand men leave, Bate felt anxious, "I really hope they don't encounter another ambush."
However, as the men did not return until the afternoon, Bate grew worried. "Someone, go find out what's happening; I hope nothing's gone wrong."
So someone went to investigate, and an hour later, the scout reported that the men who went to find food were on their way back, having finally found some, and were hurrying back.
