In the following days, Jinghan and the others went to check on the insects every morning. Sometimes, Jinghan would carry a big pair of scissors and cut off branches where the insects were too densely gathered, then move them to other trees. This way, the insects wouldn't die off from being too crowded and having nothing to eat.
Jingwan always stayed far away, a bit afraid of these insects. Jingxian, however, was not scared and would help Jinghan with cutting branches and such. After checking on the insects, they would go dig for gastrodia, which were quite plentiful in this forest, able to dig up around 20 to 30 pounds every day.
