The next morning, Zhiming was driving the bullock cart, taking Jinghan and Wenhan to the town. After a journey that took less than an hour and a half, they arrived. The three first visited the Tao family where upon reaching the entrance, they saw Tao Qingnian coming out of the house. "Qingnian," Zhiming called out.
Looking up, Tao Qingnian saw Zhiming and the others. "Third Brother? Wenhan, Jinghan, what brings you here? Come in quickly, come." As soon as he saw who had arrived, Qingnian hurriedly invited them into the courtyard.
The trio followed Qingnian through the Tao family's main gate, first visiting the elders of the Tao household. Jinghan looked around carefully and thought the Tao family to be quite decent. The main room had five sections with side houses attached, the east and west wings, and likely a place for carpentry in the back. The courtyard was clean and tidy, showing signs of a household adept at daily living.
