An inexplicable panic took hold, as if something had been hollowed out of his heart.
Shawn Clegg took a deep breath.
He stared blankly at the ceiling.
Dawn had broken, but the sun had not yet risen.
Or perhaps there would be no sun today?
Thinking thus, he subconsciously glanced at the clock.
At this look, Shawn Clegg wanted to swear.
He thought he had slept a long time, yet it was not even eight o'clock.
Then, what immediately came to mind was, he had sent a text message an hour ago—had Daisy Wright replied?
Perhaps it was her reply that had woken him.
With this thought in mind, Shawn Clegg, however, was not brimming with rage.
He immediately went to check his phone.
But nothing...
There was nothing on the phone.
No messages, no missed calls.
He even opened the text conversation with Daisy Wright.
Inside, lonely and isolated, was just his long, verbose message.
Idly sitting there.
Shawn Clegg then remembered that he and Daisy Wright had never texted before...
