"She told you she's returning to the farmhouse?" Shawn Clegg asked Anna Hughes with a grim expression.
"Certainly not," Anna Hughes feigned innocence, "She just said she was going out for a stroll, and, well," she continued, putting on a worried facade, "I actually fear for her safety, I even went out to looking for her…"
Shawn could see through Anna Hughes' deceit.
But he misconstrued that her lies were limited to her not having to look for Victoria in actuality; it never crossed his mind that Anna Hughes was blatantly lying.
She had already been holding Victoria captive inside the secret chamber in the cellar for half a day.
However, neither Anna Hughes nor Shawn Clegg could have imagined that Anna's actions inadvertently saved Victoria and Shawn from disaster.
