Both Michael and Dodo had already gone to bed before they were awakened by Victoria's call.
"Where's the device?" Victoria was almost shaking Michael apart, "The lock-opening device?"
"You, you said there wasn't enough time, right? So, I didn't get to work on it. What happened, mom? Do you need the device? Is there enough time now?" Michael said, swaying like a sandbag.
"I don't know if there is enough time," Victoria released Michael and sat down next to him, "but we must decipher the coded notebook, right? The whole event is progressing in a way that neither your dad nor I can control. And crucially, no one is mentioning Charlotte Wilson anymore, do you understand? No one is mentioning her."
"But the whole thing started with a single text message from Charlotte Wilson, right?" Dodo also sat on the bed, crossing her legs.
"Yes." Victoria snapped her fingers.
