The man didn't respond, but his arm tightened slightly.
"Hank Clegg, you mustn't leave. Victoria also doesn't want to leave." Victoria wept with no tears flowing out.
She tried to nestle in that warm and broad embrace as well as she could.
Later on, she fell asleep and lost consciousness.
When she woke up, it was already bright outside.
There was someone moving about in the room.
"Hank Clegg!" Victoria subconsciously called out, only then realizing that her throat was a bit sore and hoarse.
The crisp voice of a maid sounded: "Young Madam, you're awake? The doctor just left. He gave you an antipyretic shot and prescribed some medicine for you to take when you wake up."
"What happened to me?" Victoria asked groggily, rubbing her forehead. She looked around, "Hank Clegg...where did he go?"
She wanted to know if that warm embrace she felt last night was his.
