Victoria was about to say something when her phone suddenly rang in her pocket.
It was a call from Mrs. Clegg.
She picked up to hear Mrs. Clegg's anxious voice on the other side of the line. "Victoria, where are you? Come over right away, hurry..."
"What happened?" Victoria asked, startled.
It sounded as if Mrs. Clegg was trembling with rage on the other side. "Come here, you come and help me drive this woman away!"
Victoria hung up the phone and hurried over with Mason Ross.
When they arrived in Hank Clegg's room, they saw Hank still quietly sitting up in bed, and Mrs. Clegg and Rebecca Smith, each sitting on one side, wiping tears from their eyes.
Seeing this scene, Victoria felt a headache coming on.
Mason Ross, with his sarcastic humor, joked, "It's not a terminal disease, how come you are all so sad?"
