"You and Shawn Clegg..." Hank Clegg hesitated a bit before finally asking, "What exactly... How was your past?"
No one answered him.
Hank Clegg lowered his head to find that, unbeknownst to him, Victoria had already fallen asleep in his arm.
Resigned, he lay down himself and sighed, "Okay, go to sleep."
He gently stroked her smooth back. Victoria curled up in his arms like a tired, playful kitten.
Hugging her, he once again delved into the realm of dreams.
What woke them up was not the return of the kids and Michael, but a call from Mason Ross.
"Hello, Hank Clegg, do you only reap the benefits but leave others to deal with the aftermath?" Mason complained vehemently over the phone.
Hank Clegg sat up and swept his slightly tousled hair back with one hand.
"What's the matter?" He had been in a deep sleep, so deep that he hadn't slept like this in a while, his voice still carried a hint of grogginess when he spoke.
