Hank Clegg toned down his voice.
"You don't need to say more, I'm aware of all the details, and I will investigate this matter immediately."
"How soon is 'immediately'?," asked Victoria, worried about the orphans' wellbeing. "Does that mean right now?"
Hank Clegg placed his hands on Victoria's shoulders.
Looking into her eyes with a comforting and trustworthy expression, he assured her, "Don't worry, I'll get you a satisfying answer as quickly as possible. You don't need to concern yourself with this, I know how to handle it."
"That won't work," Victoria exclaimed impatiently, wishing she could interrogate Daniel Talkington and Mrs. Talkington immediately. "You must get on this right away. If you won't do it, then I will. I know where the Talkington Family's charity fund is located. I can go check their accounts to see where all the money is going."
"I know, you don't need to…" Hank Clegg had not realized Victoria was so impulsive.
