Hank Clegg let out an exasperated sigh.
No matter what, he just couldn't bring himself to despise her when he was in her presence.
Victoria, with her innocent and hopeful facial expression, was his most potent weapon, capable of shattering his inner defences.
Seven years ago, she had defeated him in the same way.
Shortly afterwards, Dodo and Michael received a call from Mommy.
"No need to buy a microwave and an oven, nor a mixer and a cream machine, and we won't need moulds either," Victoria's mom excitedly hollered from the other end of the line. "Your second uncle and I are already buying them. Tonight, Mommy will make you the best Strawberry Jam Cheesecake."
"She said she wants to make us a Strawberry Jam Cheesecake," Michael relayed, looking deathly pale, as he put down the phone.
"Oh no!" Dodo covered her face. "God, please don't let Mommy blow up the new kitchen."
Strawberry Jam Cheesecake?
Hank Clegg, standing beside Victoria's mom, felt a bit excited at the thought.
