Shawn Clegg had never imagined that one day he'd be associated with the words "private elopement."
In his view, as long as the person he loved also loved him, there was nothing in the world that could keep them apart.
But the current reality was that he couldn't provide Daisy Wright with a stable and safe embrace.
What am I?
As he walked along the narrow path through the mountain forest, he kept asking himself.
He couldn't do anything.
He had always been a prodigal son, and now he was a wretch who couldn't control even his own destiny or his lover's.
"Shawn..." After an unknowable distance, Daisy called out to him.
"What?" Shawn Clegg didn't stop.
"Your leg..." Daisy asked with concern.
"We're about to lose everything, and you're worried about my leg?" Shawn Clegg replied coldly.
"Let's rest for a bit, Shawn." Daisy knew he was still angry, but she couldn't keep going with him; his leg had just healed and couldn't withstand such a long trek.
