Despite what was just said, Merlin Edvin still bounced up to dance.
Victoria and Hank Clegg stood on a mezzanine floor on the second story, watching everything that was happening down below.
Because it was still their baby's birthday, they as parents had faded into the background.
"Michael doesn't seem to get along very well with Merlin," Victoria sighed, "theoretically they should have become good friends."
"Don't worry about them," Hank Clegg told Victoria, "they have their own ways of getting along."
After he had taught Michael that day, she had improved significantly, and Merlin had quieted down quite a bit.
But Hank Clegg could tell from the occasional glint in Merlin's eye that she was still bound to stir up trouble.
