The entire needle is a form of strong mystery drug, when thrust into the body, along with the needle body, it is quickly absorbed by the person's muscle and blood.
The person would immediately fall into unconsciousness, just like the man who attempted to knock Mom unconscious with a stick earlier.
The drug needle will then disappear in the body, leaving no trace to be detected later on.
