"Huh?" Victoria was taken aback.
Then she quickly made sense of it.
"Oh, I'm just hungry!" she admitted, her neck flushing red.
Hank Clegg scoffed.
Of course, he knew she was just hungry.
Victoria was acting like the entire world owed her a bowl of white rice.
He also knew that after getting his "call" at the dinner table, not just Victoria, his entire family was probably dealing with gnawing hunger by now.
Who would still have the mood to eat after hearing such upsetting news on the phone?
"I…" Victoria glanced towards the door, "It's getting late, I should go…"
"Go where?" Hank's face hardened again.
"Back to my bedroom," Victoria shrunk back in alarm, "You said I can't leave the Clegg's house, right?"
She no longer had the courage to challenge Hank anymore.
Despite Victoria clearly stating her intentions, Hank refused to take the hint.
He asked coolly, "Do you hate being here so much?"
