The accounts of the Talkington Family were a mess, an utter disaster.
The entire Charity Foundation was severely in debt.
All of the vast sums that the Clegg Family had invested had been usurped by Daniel Talkington to cover old debts, not a penny had been used on the charity fund for the Orphanage.
But where had the funds for the recent activities come from?
They were all borrowed, of course!
Which is to say, if called to account by the creditors after the fact, there's no way the Talkington Family could pay that kind of money.
However, the project was a joint endeavour of the Clegg and Talkington Families.
The Clegg family would either share the defendant's seat with the Talkington's in court.
Or they would have to help the Talkington family pay off the debts in order to escape liability.
The Talkington Family had already dragged the Clegg Family into the mess... either they would sink together, or cleanse their reputations together.
