"Who said that," Dodo also laughed, "aren't you a poor person?"
"Yes, I'm poor," John Coleman took off his coat and spread it out in the Bridge Tunnel, "that's why I left Misty City,"
He patted the coat, "Poor people can't survive in Misty City... Come on, sleep here."
Dodo glanced at the coat on the ground, then at John Coleman, who was now wearing only a T-shirt.
"I'll just sleep like this." Dodo hugged her shoulders and leaned against the bridge tunnel wall, "You put your clothes back on. It gets quite cool at night."
"You sleep here," John Coleman said, unbelievably gentle, "I'll sleep outside."
"Outside?"
"Yes, outside the Bridge Tunnel. Go to sleep," he said, "I'll protect you from out here. A beautiful Miss like you shouldn't be without a proper Guard."
This was just the approach bridge part of the large bridge, and there was a lawn outside.
Dodo laughed.
The disdain she had just felt toward John Coleman vanished.
In its place was a warm current.
