Lucas Walker did not know when Ivana Bennett would wake up, but he knew she would be hungry when she did, so he wanted her breakfast to be ready immediately when she came to.
"Yes, Lord Walker, I understand," responded the old butler, passing the paper bag in his hand to Lucas Walker. "This is an extra set of clothes I had prepared for Lady Bennett yesterday evening."
Accepting the clothes, Lucas Walker returned a smile as the butler bowed and then left the room.
Carrying the clothes, he went quietly into Ivana's room.
On the pillow, Ivana was still deep in sleep.
The room was warmly heated, and her cheeks were rosy from sleep. She was sprawled sideways on the bed, her head off the pillow. One arm hung off the edge of the bed, as did her left leg and foot.
Seeing her childlike sleep posture, a small smile touched Lucas Walker's lips.
He walked over quietly, not disturbing her, but gently pulling up the blanket to cover her exposed leg.
