The old butler immediately refused, "No, I promised Lord that I would protect you..."
Ivana was the one Lord cared about the most – he would rather die than risk her safety.
"Even if you stay behind, you'd at most delay them for a short while. They will eventually catch up to me," Ivana braced his arm, her tone somber, "if you want to save me, listen to me."
The old butler was just a butler, he wasn't good at fighting – it wouldn't take long before they killed him, and they'd catch up anyway.
If she stayed behind, there was a possibility to delay them further and buy time for the old butler to seek reinforcements.
The butler knew, of course, that this was the best approach at hand.
He gritted his teeth gently, giving a nod to Ivana.
"If anything happens to you, I will apologize to the Lord with my life!"
With this, he turned around and dashed into the woods.
