With Lucas Walker's intelligence, even without her saying it, he could guess that the Duchess wouldn't have said anything good about her.
Speaking up about it would only anger him, and Ivana Bennett had no intention of mentioning it.
Noticing the old butler standing next to them, Ivana Bennett turned around and smiled.
"Mr. Butler, could you trouble the servants to send up some Dimsum? I'm...a bit hungry."
"Please wait a moment."
The butler responded and walked out of the study.
Lucas Walker looked up at her, "Why are you protecting her?"
"The Duchess?" Ivana Bennett pulled a chair and sat at the desk, "I'm not protecting her. I just want to play a game of chess."
Taking the chess piece that she'd drawn from her hand and placing it on the board, Lucas Walker nodded slightly.
"Your turn."
"Giving me the first move?" Ivana Bennett raised the corner of her lips, moving her knight, "Then you'll lose soon!"
