Upon seeing Lucas Walker's entrance, the maid immediately bowed respectfully. He waved her off, and she withdrew promptly.
Ivana Bennett glanced at him out of the corner of her eye, her heart skipping a beat in surprise.
The man before her was soaking in sweat. His white shirt stuck to his body in large patches, his slightly long hair clung damply to his forehead. He looked as though he had just been fished out of the water. Surely, she hadn't upset him to the point of diving into the ocean?
Lucas sat down next to her, picked up the tray with one hand, and caught his breath slightly, "You were planning to run, weren't you? How will you manage that if you don't eat first?"
Reverse psychology?
Ivana Bennett scoffed and turned her face away; she wouldn't fall for that.
Picking up a wet wipe from the tray and cleaning his hands, Lucas used a fork to pick up some food from the plate and brought it to her mouth.
"Behave and eat. Otherwise, your body won't stand the strain."
