Ivana Bennett had been up for half the night and had spent the day drawing and shopping. She was tired.
She bid him goodnight and hung up the phone.
Inside the Count's Residence.
Lucas Walker put down his phone.
"Arrange for me to fly to New York in three days."
"Yes, Count."
Mew!
On the table, a small kitten's tender cry could be heard. Lucas Walker bent down and saw that the little snowball had somehow crawled to his feet and was sleeping there.
He picked it up, stroking its back before placing it on the table.
The little snowball glanced around. With a light hop, it jumped onto his lap, curled into a little ball, and started purring contentedly.
Looking at the sleeping creature, Lucas Walker's heart melted.
"In a few days, we'll go to see Ivana together."
Whispering, he didn't push it away but let the little creature continue its nap on his lap.
