Ivana Bennett glanced at the rear-view mirror, looking at the car trailing not too far behind her, and just faintly lifted the corners of her lips.
This was Bitterford, where every red light and every one-way street — she knew them so well, she could navigate them even with her eyes closed.
They honestly think they can tail her, in their dreams!
"Mom, did you fasten your seatbelt?"
"Yes."
Just as Summer Gardner responded, Ivana Bennett already had her foot on the accelerator.
She had been going straight initially, until they were near an intersection when she suddenly swerved left and made a U-turn to enter the opposing lane.
She knew her way around, and her pursuers weren't able to keep up. They were forced to stop at the red light.
The bodyguard frowned and dialed the butler's number again.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Butler, we lost her!"
"Where is she?"
Late Lucas Walker snarled into the phone.
"She made a U-turn on the main road and headed south," the bodyguard replied.
