"Come out, and see me!"
Lucas Walker uttered this phrase a few times with the carbon arrow that Ivana Bennett had shot at him clutched firmly in his hand. He stood rigidly outside her fence, waiting for her response.
Through her telescope, Ivana had been observing every move Lucas made.
From a very young age, she and her brother had been taught sign language by their father. With this knowledge, she could easily understand what Lucas was saying, even without watching his hand signs.
See him?
In his dreams!
She scoffed and put down the telescope, feeling regret and reminding herself that she shouldn't have given him any attention.
Initially, she assumed that he would eventually lose his patience and leave. But instead, that infuriating man had realized she was watching him and was determined to stand his ground.
Dressed in thick cotton clothes and sitting indoors where it was warm, she quickly began to feel hot.
