Outside the cave mouth, Mariana Buck walked a few steps before stopping.
She gave them a deep look and then promptly turned around and entered the cave.
Flossie Wright didn't seem to care at all.
"What are you doing with these?"
Sandy Cruz dragged the wood inside, which was quite strenuous, but he didn't forget to ask Flossie Wright the reason.
The few pine trees were already enough for them to burn all night long.
"Making a bed," Flossie Wright answered succinctly.

Sandy Cruz stopped in his tracks, frowning at her.
Flossie Wright looked back puzzled.
After a pause, Sandy Cruz spoke slowly and deliberately, "You really are an oddball."

Though Flossie Wright was an oddball, the wood she had brought over did indeed come in very handy.
She chopped each log to about two meters in length; the trunks were straight and smooth, without any rough spots, and five logs lined up together easily accommodated one person.
