"No," Calvin Ramos was somewhat surprised, apparently taken aback by her large reaction, but then his expression softened, and he looked at her seriously and after a while, he added, "I'm afraid you won't be able to keep up."

Calvin Ramos had wanted to say that he was afraid she would get hurt if she kept this up, that she would be upset, that she would be in pain.
But, when the words reached his lips, he just couldn't bring himself to say them.
They had long since had no relationship.
"Heh," Becca Reyes's smile deepened, trying to suppress the irritation between her brows, yet her tone was disdainful, "You speak better than you sing."
