Startled slightly, Rowdy Brightwill, though surprised, glanced at Flossie Wright and noticed the unnatural flush on her face, which confirmed his suspicion.
He narrowed his eyes and looked at Nancy Phillips seriously. After pondering for a moment, he began, "She is sick, I'll take her to the infirmary."
"Sick?"
Taken aback, Nancy Phillips paused, then frowned again.
The next moment, she turned to Flossie Wright, who was holding her gun to the side, "Flossie Wright, come here!"
"Yes!"
With a focused gaze, Flossie Wright walked over without looking sideways.
"Sick?" Nancy Phillips asked indifferently.
"Yes."
There was a pause, and Flossie Wright's reply was crisp.
After some thought, Nancy Phillips asked again, "What happened?"
"Fever," came the clear and concise answer.
Nancy Phillips breathed heavily, glancing sideways at Rowdy Brightwill, but saw that his gaze seemed glued to Flossie Wright, completely oblivious to her own stare.
Annoyance came unbidden!
