Before the exercise began, she might have been proud enough to consider herself no less capable than Flossie Wright. However, after the exercise, she realized that Flossie's skills were far beyond what she had previously perceived. Flossie might not have been the strongest in training, but her intellect, experience, and ideas were unsurpassed amongst the new recruits. Even Calvin Ramos had to respect her opinion first and foremost.
As for Flossie Wright, she did the deed but never claimed it. She simply wanted to save Becca Reyes the embarrassment.
The night wind was chill, and the noise behind her gradually faded away.
After deep sigh and standing quietly for a moment, Becca Reyes looked up and watched as the silhouette disappeared around the corner. Her expression suddenly eased significantly.
Why wouldn't it? The beneficiary was her, after all. Flossie had made a deliberate effort to conceal her deeds -- why should Becca trouble herself over it?
