Patrick Morrison, as a rugged man who grew up in the Northeast, was generally hearty and bold. But now, upon being queried by Rowdy Brightwill, he became completely flustered. His normally dark skin somehow took on a slight blush.
Unbearably, his dark past was being brought up again, and Patrick didn't feel at ease in the slightest.
"What about her caught your eye in the first place?"
Rowdy Brightwill didn't seem to understand, he moved closer, his eyebrows furrowed deeper, as if he was really determined to get an answer from Patrick Morrison.
"At that time..." Patrick stuttered with his words, a grown man unable to speak clearly. After a few moments of silence, he resignedly answered, "I must've been blind."
If it referred to the past Flossie Wright, Patrick certainly had to admit, he must've been blind. Only if he was blind, more than anything, would he have developed feelings for Flossie Wright and desperately launched his pursuit.
