As the saying goes, pull one hair and the whole body moves. If you offended a member of a family, you could provoke the power of the entire family to retaliate. Hence, those with a bit of brains knew better than to provoke the Hutchinson family. Even if you had the potential to take down one person, you simply could not uproot the entire family.
