Water splashed into his eyes, making them glisten like obsidian. He was staring at her with sterling seriousness, her reflection somewhat blurred in his pupils, yet the warmth conveyed from his gaze was nevertheless intensified.
Under the dim light, he appeared as he always did: genial, persistent, and serious. Just as he always looked at her, albeit laced with a hint of restraint.
Yet in that instant, in the deepest parts of Janice's heart, she perceived him to surpass his former image.
She found him to be truly impressive and admirable.
