Knowing when to back down, however, Willie decided if he couldn't fight back he'd better hide.

Speaking humorously, Willie, all smiles, said this to both of them, and then quickly scampered into the dark jungle.
His primary concern was finding a good hiding spot as soon as possible.

Flossie rolled her eyes exasperatedly. Since Glenn hadn't run off randomly this time, she didn't have to go looking for him, and since she had brought porridge this time, it wouldn't cool down so easily.
