Arthur Baker stood up. "I'll accompany you."
"What about Aurelia? You stay with her. She'll be bored alone."
"No need, no need, I don't need company. You two had better leave quickly. I'm more comfortable by myself. What if some handsome guy wants to strike up a conversation and sees there's a man here—it'd scare him away..." Aurelia hastened their departure, a carefree smile on her face.
Yet, when they really left, her heart felt empty.
Aurelia Wood watched the doorway, feeling somewhat forlorn, realizing that even when she was sick, he still couldn't see her.
In his eyes, there would only be Sofia Hamilton.
